Cooler, faster, and way smarter — these are the electric cars that’ll actually make you want to ditch gas.
While most EVs still feel like glorified appliances, these next-gen models pack bold design, serious performance, and tech that’s more sci-fi than spreadsheet.
From Sony Honda’s Afeela to DeLorean’s comeback coupe, here are the seven electric cars we’re watching hardest for 2025 and 2026.
Sony’s entry into the auto world was always going to be high-tech, and Afeela 1 doesn’t disappoint. This futuristic sedan is basically a rolling entertainment system with Level 2+ autonomy and a fully digital cockpit built on Unreal Engine by Epic Games.
Outside, it features a 31.5-inch LED “media bar” that communicates with pedestrians and other drivers.
Under the hood? Dual motors sending 482 hp to all four wheels, a 91 kWh battery, and an estimated 300-mile range. Ride comfort is backed by an adaptive air suspension. The cabin is sleek and minimal, with surround sound tuned for cinematic vibes.
📍 Starts at $89,900, launching mid-2026.
Yes, it’s that DeLorean, and it’s finally coming back. The Alpha5 reimagines the 80s icon with gullwing doors, a sleek coupe silhouette, and a digital dashboard that wraps around like a cockpit. There’s even a smartwatch-style wearable to monitor driver vitals and, apparently, send virtual “hugs.”
It’s more than nostalgia, though. The Alpha5 is serious about performance: a dual-motor powertrain, 100 kWh battery, and a 0–60 time of just under 3 seconds. Range clocks in at 300 miles. Expect it to turn heads—and eat Teslas for breakfast.
💷 Estimated at £120,000. First deliveries late 2025.
Hyundai’s luxury offshoot is getting aggressive. The GV60 Magma is a spiced-up version of the GV60 crossover, tuned for performance. Think 483 hp, AWD, and a sprint to 60 mph in just over 3 seconds. Adaptive dampers and a low stance signal track readiness, while the body kit, complete with aero flaps, adds some extra visual bite.
Inside, expect premium materials, a wide panoramic display, and one of the sharpest EV interfaces in the game. This is Genesis flexing.
*Arrives late 2025 or early 2026.
The Polestar 5 isn’t just a pretty face. This grand tourer packs 874 hp, 800V fast charging, and a bonded aluminum chassis that promises the rigidity of a supercar. It’s aiming to go toe-to-toe with Porsche and Lucid—and the numbers suggest it just might.
The design blends Scandi-minimalism with a muscular stance, inspired by the Precept concept. Inside, it’s all about sustainability: flax fiber panels, recycled PET fabrics, and minimal waste. This is a performance EV with a conscience.
Charging from 10–80% is expected in under 10 minutes, thanks to its 800V platform. And with a >300-mile range, it’s no garage queen
Forget the cutesy city cars of the past—Smart is going all-in on power and performance. The #6 will be the brand’s most powerful EV ever, boasting over 630 hp and sleek four-door coupe styling meant to challenge the Tesla Model 3 Performance.
Built on the Geely-Mercedes platform, this saloon brings aerodynamic efficiency and minimalist interiors wrapped in a sharply styled shell. It’s all-wheel drive, ultra-responsive, and surprisingly luxurious for a badge once known for its parking prowess.
The launch is slated for late 2026, and Smart wants you to know it’s not playing small anymore.
Lucid’s follow-up to the Air is the seven-seat SUV the luxury EV world didn’t know it needed. The Gravity brings over 800 hp, a projected 440+ mile range, and a space-themed glass canopy that makes you feel like you’re driving a spaceship, just without the fuel bill.
It rides on a 900V architecture, with ultra-fast charging and performance that rivals supercars. Expect a massive infotainment display, smart storage, and the kind of cabin design that makes Teslas feel dated.
Big, bold, and battery-packed — the Gravity is coming to flip the family SUV script.
Kia wants to own the affordable EV space, and the EV4 is its secret weapon. A compact electric sedan with a futuristic look and dual 12.3-inch displays, it’s shaping up to be one of the most well-rounded budget EVs in the pipeline.
It’ll likely come with single- and dual-motor variants, offering up to 330 miles of range. The interior feels more upscale than you’d expect at this price, and the design borrows cues from the EV6 and EV9, just in a tighter, urban-friendly package.
Coming 2026, it’s one to watch if you want value without compromise.
Whether you’re after raw performance, smart design, or just something that turns heads at a stoplight, 2026 and 2027 are shaping up to be loaded with EVs worth the wait.
